Alpharetta's Hewlett-Packard Co. location is expanding. The company announced that it will add 200 jobs at its campus in the Atlanta metro area, as part of a corporate restructuring. HP currently employs about 800 in the small suburban city north of Atlanta.
The new jobs with HP will be added in Alpharetta by the end of October. They will include customer support workers that help enterprise customers troubleshoot problems with hardware products, such as servers and storage devices found in datacenters, HP spokesman Michael Thacker said late Monday.
HP has a roughly 60-acre campus on Windward Parkway, where it employs more than 850 in three office buildings. The company also has a data center in Suwanee.
In May, HP announced a restructuring plan designed to "simplify business processes, accelerate innovation and deliver better results for customers, employees and stockholders."
As part of that plan and in an effort to drive efficiencies, all Customer Solution Center support staff, currently based in various locations throughout the world, will be transitioned to a single worldwide location of Alpharetta.
HP, the top PC maker, also makes software and is one of the largest information technology consultants in the country.
