MARTA is encouraging Atlanta residents to skip the car ride this Final Four weekend and take the bus or the train.

The transportation service sent out a release today detailing its service changes, updates and suggestions for this weekend’s NCAA basketball tournament slate of events. Read the full release from MARTA Chief Spokesman & Media Relations Press Officer Lyle V. Harris below.

Pick and roll past all the traffic and parking madness by taking MARTA directly to all the Final Four events and other activities taking place Friday, April 5th to Monday, April 8th. MARTA will have extra trains running to get customers quickly to the Bracket Town Fan Fest, concerts and basketball games via the Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center Station. Additional staff and police will be on hand to assist our customers.

For only $2.50 one-way (plus a $1 charge for a permanent Breeze card), MARTA offers the most affordable and convenient way to travel to the events. Customers are encouraged to purchase round-trip fare or multiple day passes at the start of their trip for added convenience. Fare products are available for purchase at Breeze vending machines in all 38 rail stations.

Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all of MARTA’s daily parking facilities. Customers parking in the decks at Lindbergh Center Station must park in MARTA-designated areas and validate their parking tickets at machines inside Lindbergh Station in order to receive free daily parking. Please note that MARTA has some designated lots which charge a fee including lots at Lenox, Brookhaven, Kensington, and College Park Stations.

The last trains will depart Five Points Station in all directions at 1:30 a.m. All rail single-tracking work has been cancelled for the weekend.
