Just two days after winning by 19 points at home, the Atlanta Dream were on the opposite end of a beating, losing to the New York Liberty 76-67.

Cappie Pondexter and Plenette Pierson scored 17 points each to lead the Liberty past the Dream on Sunday, handing Atlanta its first loss this season.

Sancho Lyttle led the Dream in scoring for the second straight game and Angel McCoughtry added 15 in a losing effort. Lyttle had 18 points and 11 rebounds in the game.
The Dream (4-1) were off to their best start since opening the 2010 season with six wins. Tiffany Hayes added 13 and Jasmine Thomas 11.

Atlanta was missing head coach Fred Williams because of a dental procedure. Assistant Joe Ciampi took over.
Trailing by four points at the start of the fourth quarter, New York outscored Atlanta 25-12 over the final 10 minutes to secure the win.

After shooting 41 percent in the win on Friday, Atlanta shot just 36 percent from the field in the rematch and it cost them.

”We didn’t make our shots,” said Lyttle. ”We played the same defensive game, but we didn’t make our shots tonight. … We know better next time if we’re not making shots we have to step up on defense.”
