East Point Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration Postponed

The East Point City Council announced that impending threats of rain have moved the city to reschedule its Fourth of July fireworks celebration.

Members of the East Point City Council confirmed the news in an email with the Atlanta Daily World. The celebration known as Salute to the Red, White and Blue Hometown Celebration will now take place on Saturday July 6.

This is the first year the celebration will not take place on the fourth. It had happened on Independence Day every year prior.

Despite the change in date, the display will still take place in its usual location. It is held across from the East Point MARTA station & East Point City Hall. Council members boast that the event features “South Fulton County’s largest pryo digital fireworks display synchronized to a musical score.”

In addition to a fireworks show, the event features activities for the whole family, including a carnival complete with carousel, Ferris wheel, rides, a watermelon eating contest, a select merchandise vendor market and musical performances throughout the evening.

There is also a food court including Italian ice, funnel cakes, smoked and grilled meats, fried fish, beer and tropical drinks.

Patrons are invited to bring blankets and chairs to the event. Those with tents must set-up in a designated area on the site so as to not block the view of other attendees. In addition, no outside food, grills or beverage is allowed on the event site as a courtesy to the event vendors.
