Holiday radio and tv programming has begun. It's the 24 hour Christmas carols, specials and radio tunes. It seems that it is beginning earlier and earlier each year.
This year Christmas songs started chiming about 2 days after Halloween. I have to laugh as it seems that Thanksgiving is becoming a stop over holiday for the ramp up to Christmas now. After listening to the radio for a while you definitely tune in for your favorites. Definitely, Christmas songs range in sound, taste and tradition. There are a few that no matter where you are you will sing.
10-"Feliz Navidad"- All of us remember singing this in grade school. In particular we all screamed out "I want to wish you a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart."
9- "Jingle Bells"- We each know the short version, the long version and the Batman and Robin version of this song. The long version involves the way to Grandma's House.
8- "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus"- The Jackson Five Version of this song just warms your heart. Though we all know we would never see Joe Jackson dressed up as Santa Claus.
7- "Oh Christmas Tree"- lets us recall seeing Snoopy put together his Christmas decorations. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.
6- "This Christmas"- a movie standard that you are guaranteed to hear no matter what type of movie it is.
5- "All I want for Christmas"- the carol that gave Mariah Carey a hit has definitely reached the catergory of most played on all formats of radio stations.
4- "Please Come Home For Christmas"- inspires you no matter who sings this song. You are instantly thinking of Twinkling lights and wrapping gifts.
3- "I'll Be Home For Christmas"- recalls all the people who can not be with you this holiday season and you wish could even if its just a memory of Christmas a long time ago.
2- "White Christmas"- was featured in the movie of the same name. As we think about our armed forces so far away lets just remember that these are likely their dreams.
The hands down Christmas favorite is without a doubt the following:
1- "The Christmas Song"- we all instantly can hear Nat King Cole singing this song. It recalls holidays past and present.
