I would agree with you in the sense that there's a greater evil in the region which is Chinese imperialism over the whole of the South China Sea, refusing to recognize the free economic zones of all countries living around it, most especially Vietnam and the Philippines. This is actually a cause where US help is probably for the better. As bad as the US may behave around the world, China is worse to even its own people. How much more to others if given the chance?

I love reading this story because my wife is a dark-skinned Filipina who was teased for it growing up, and in turn developed a negative feeling towards dark skin. She's overcome that over the past few years, but while reading about the Philippine-Amer ican War, i was surprised by the regularity of American soldiers referring to Filipinos as n*****s in the letters home. To this day Filipinos use the term towards blacks and their own darker skinned countrymen, but I'm glad to hear of one hero and maybe more who had the courage to stand against it then and now.

Thank you for reminding us about this very negative period of American intervention in the Philippines. One thing you might find very interesting that your views are not shared by the majority of the Filipinos today. I would suggest that it might be good for you to do some field research before attempting to expand. The United States is not militarizing activity in this country and the insurgency basically terrorizes the common people.
